Once in place, they allow your dentist to mount replacement teeth onto them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How do Dental Implants Work?<\/strong><br>Because implants fuse to your jawbone, they provide stable support for artificial teeth. Dentures and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/crowns-and-bridges.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bridges<\/a> mounted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/dental-implants.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">implants<\/a> won&#8217;t slip or shift in your mouth \u2014 an especially important benefit when eating and speaking. This secure fit helps the dentures and bridges \u2014 as well as individual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/crowns-and-bridges.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">crowns<\/a> placed over implants \u2014 feel more natural than conventional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/crowns-and-bridges.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bridges<\/a> or dentures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For some people, ordinary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/crowns-and-bridges.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bridges<\/a> and dentures are simply not comfortable or even possible, due to sore spots, poor ridges or gagging. In addition, ordinary <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/crowns-and-bridges.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bridges<\/a> must be attached to teeth on either side of the space left by the missing tooth. An advantage of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/dental-implants.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">implants<\/a> is that no adjacent teeth need to be prepared or ground down to hold your new replacement tooth\/teeth in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To receive implants, you need to have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/dental-implants.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">implant<\/a>. You must also commit to keeping these structures healthy. Meticulous oral hygiene and regular dental visits are critical to the long-term success of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/dental-implants.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dental implants<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Implants\nare usually more expensive than other methods of tooth replacement, and most\ninsurance carriers typically cover less than 10 percent of the fees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The American Dental Association considers two types of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/dental-implants.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">implants<\/a> to be safe. They are: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" src=\"https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-50\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/1.jpg 400w, https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/1-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/1-170x170.jpg 170w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>+<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Endosteal      implants<\/strong> \u2014 these are surgically implanted directly      into the jawbone. Once the surrounding gum tissue has healed, a second      surgery is needed to connect a post to the original <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/dental-implants.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">implant<\/a>. Finally, an      artificial tooth (or teeth) is attached to the post-individually, or      grouped on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.stavyadental.com\/crowns-and-bridges.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bridge<\/a> or denture. <\/li><li><strong>Subperiosteal      implants<\/strong> \u2014 these consist of a metal frame that is      fitted onto the jawbone just below the gum tissue. As the gums heal, the      frame becomes fixed to the jawbone. Posts, which are attached to the      frame, protrude through the gums.
